On June 26, YouTube Entertainment channel president Lee Jin-ho uploaded a video titled “Song Ha-yoon’s school bullying investigation overturned? Controversy over misleading explanations… Why the accuser was left in tears.” The video questioned whether the actress’s legal team had inaccurately described recent developments in the case.
The controversy dates back to April 2024, when Song Ha-yoon was accused of school violence. A man identified as A, who claimed to have been a grade younger than the actress in high school, claimed that she physically assaulted him for approximately 90 minutes in August 2004. He also claimed that Song Ha-yoon had been involved in a gang assault incident that eventually led to her forcible transfer to another school.
Song Ha-yoon strongly denied all allegations in July 2025. Through his legal representatives, he filed a criminal complaint against A for defamation. In February this year, the authorities decided not to forward the case against A to criminal prosecution. Song Ha-yoon’s legal team subsequently filed an objection to that decision.
The case entered a new phase on June 25, when Song Ha-yoon’s lawyer announced that the criminal complaint against A had recently been forwarded to prosecutors with a recommendation for indictment.
However, Lee Jin-ho disputed this explanation. According to the YouTuber, prosecutors had simply requested further investigation, meaning the case remained under review rather than reaching a final conclusion.
He further argued that the chronology itself raised questions. “Song Ha-yoon’s legal team filed its objection on March 19. They argued that on the same day the case was transformed into a prosecution recommendation and sent to prosecutors. Realistically, this would have been impossible,” Lee Jin-ho said.
He explained that because an objection had been lodged, the case was automatically transferred to prosecutors according to the normal legal procedure. According to his interpretation, it was a routine referral rather than a decision that the police had overturned the original finding or recommended prosecution.
A’s representatives also contested the actress’s position. “The claim that the case was forwarded with a recommendation to indict is misleading,” they said. “The police had already reached a decision not to prosecute. Since Song Ha-yoon has lodged an objection, prosecutors are now looking into the matter. This does not mean that the authorities have concluded that there are grounds to proceed.”
They added that they had received no contact from prosecutors regarding any charging recommendations. “We checked the details ourselves and have no idea what their statement was based on. The police simply informed us that their original position had not changed and that additional investigative material would be forwarded to prosecutors.”
