Recently, Kim Moo Yeol and Lee Sung Min appeared on Netflix Korea’s official YouTube channel, where they shared behind-the-scenes stories of the production of I’ll teach you a lesson.
During the conversation, the actors highlighted Jin Ki Joo’s effort in portraying his character, Im Han Rim, an inspector of the school authority. Their comments attracted attention because the actress recently faced an online debate over her performance. Much of the discussion has focused on its defining characteristics “instructor style” way of speaking, which divided spectators and sparked continuous discussions among the public.
In the video, Jonathan pointed out, “When Im Han Rim went from being a teacher to becoming an inspector of the school authorities, her entire speaking style suddenly changed.” He added, “In that moment, I felt satisfying, like everything fell into place.”
When Jonathan asked about the background behind Jin Ki Joo’s unique way of speaking, Kim Moo Yeol explained, “There is no official manual for this. We trust the actors’ interpretation and let them develop the character in their own way.”

Lee Sung Min nodded and revealed it “Jin Ki Joo spent a lot of time studying the speech patterns of real female instructors.” Kim Moo Yeol also noted that Lee Sung Min contributed numerous ideas during the process. “Elder Lee Sung Min gave her a lot of inspiration,” he said. “Jin Ki Joo continued to develop and refine his performance based on those ideas.”
Kim Moo Yeol further praised her co-star’s dedication, revealing that she even sought help from a singing teacher because she wanted to project her voice more powerfully during the series.

I’ll teach you a lesson follows the Ministry of Education’s Office for the Protection of Educational Rights as it works to restore order and authority within educational institutions. Since its release on June 5, the drama has attracted a lot of attention and even reached the top spot in Netflix’s global non-English TV category.
