On June 19, Hyeri uploaded a video titled “I’m sharing the story of the Muju Film Festival I’ve been preparing for a year” on her YouTube channel.
In the video, Hyeri explained, “Today I want to talk about my story. I have been selected as the next actor at the Muju Film Festival. The whole journey has already come to an end, but I wanted to share everything, so I documented it as thoroughly as possible.”
She continued, “When you are selected as the Next Actor, a book called Next Actor is published together with film journalist Baek Eun Ha. I even bought a keyboard and spent time working on it. The book is entirely filled with my story. The fact that I was able to publish a book like this is incredible for me and I feel extremely proud and touched.”
Hyeri also revealed details about her participation in the Muju Film Festival, where she screened her first directorial project.
“As the Next Actor, I went to Muju and presented my first directed work. I screened a trailer and also held my own exhibition. It was an event that started with Hyeri and ended with Hyeri,” she said, before sharing footage of the trailer production process and the festival schedule.
While visiting the studio location for filming the trailer, Hyeri discussed the message she wanted to convey through the project.
“This bedroom represents the image that people expect of me, the image that they already know and associate with Hyeri,” she explained. “The bathroom feels more like an escape. When the light comes on, those expectations vanish.”

She added: “The bedroom version of myself is someone with a lot of worries and someone who feels exhausted. When I go to the bathroom, I feel more refreshing and liberated.”
The trailer, in the creation of which Hyeri personally participated as director, was subsequently screened for the audience present at the Muju Film Festival.
After the successful screening, he explained the symbolism behind the different spaces shown in the trailer.
“Each place has its own meaning. The bedroom represented the image that people loved and the version of myself that I showed until now. Walking through the corridor and entering the bathroom was meant to express a feeling of freedom,” she said.
“Then, when the words ‘Who’s next?’ appear at the end, I wanted viewers to wonder what version of me they might see next. That hope was the reason I created this trailer.

Meanwhile, Hyeri recently found herself at the center of unexpected online criticism following her June 13 fan meeting.
During the event, she wore a tight sleeveless dress and some photos led netizens to comment that she appeared to have gained weight as her abdominal area looked more prominent due to the lighting and camera angles.
In response, Hyeri addressed the issue via a fan communication platform on June 16.
“I like myself just the way I am,” he wrote. “But people might think it’s unprofessional. Although I don’t understand why being thin is considered more professional. However, if that’s what my fans want, I’ll try.”
