Thai social media and news outlets were captivated on June 11 when billionaire heir Psi Scott emerged from a tense court mediation session involving his mother and the powerful Bhirombhakdi family.
The mediation reportedly lasted four hours but ended without a resolution. A subsequent hearing is scheduled for June 16. The dispute centers on a lawsuit filed by Psi Scott’s mother seeking to recover assets his late grandfather left him, claiming he had behaved in an unfilial manner toward the family.
The legal battle follows explosive allegations previously made by Psi Scott against his older brother, Pi Sunith Scott. Psi Scott has publicly accused his brother of sexually abusing him over a period of years, claiming that other family members were aware of the situation but failed to intervene. The claims have triggered widespread debate in Thailand and intensified scrutiny of one of the country’s most influential business families.
After leaving court, Psi Scott presented reporters with a nondisclosure agreement that he said family members pressured him to sign in 2023. By his account, he initially turned to relatives for support after revealing allegations involving his brother and a former nanny. Instead, he claims that his family urged him to remain silent and offered him financial compensation in exchange for confidentiality.
Psi Scott said the proposal included:
- A one-time payment of 10 million baht (approximately $300,000 USD)
- Annual payments of 5 million baht (approximately $150,000 USD)
- Shares in the family brewing business
In exchange, he reportedly agreed not to publicly criticize the family or reveal any further details related to the alleged abuse beyond what was already known publicly.

Speaking to reporters, Psi Scott said he signed the agreement at the time because he felt overwhelmed and didn’t have a full understanding of the situation. Now he says he regrets that decision. According to media reports, Psi Scott said: “They can’t buy me. Humanity can’t be bought.” He also argued that money and influence should never be used to silence victims or suppress the truth.
In a dramatic moment that spread quickly on social media, Psi Scott shredded the document in front of reporters and supporters gathered outside the courthouse. The symbolic act immediately went viral on Thai social media platforms.
Large crowds reportedly gathered outside the courthouse to show support for Psi Scott during the mediation session. Many online users praised his decision to reject the alleged deal, seeing the gesture as a statement against the use of wealth and power to control personal narratives. The viral footage of him tearing up the document became one of the most talked about moments on Thai social media throughout the day.

Psi Scott also revealed more details about his grandparents’ will. He said he had previously not been given access to the document and was surprised to find that he had allegedly been left substantial assets. According to Psi Scott, this contradicted previous claims that he had not been granted significant inheritance rights. He also said he was shocked to find the name of a former nanny he accused of abuse listed as a witness on the last page of the will. These claims have not been independently verified by the court.
Psi Scott’s mother did not attend the mediation in person. His legal representative told reporters he was experiencing health problems and extreme emotional distress related to the ongoing litigation. The lawyer said she was taking medication and was deeply distressed by a conflict involving people she loves. The lawyer concluded by saying: “There is no mother who does not love her child.”

Despite the failed mediation, representatives indicated that discussions remain ongoing and that future court sessions could still lead to progress towards a solution.
With another court hearing scheduled for June 16, the much-publicized family conflict shows no signs of ending anytime soon. The case has attracted public attention not only because of the serious charges involved, but also because it concerns one of Thailand’s most prominent business dynasties, known for its connection to the iconic Singha beer empire.
As the legal proceedings continue, the dispute remains one of the most closely watched stories in Thai entertainment and business circles.
