An up-and-coming actress has emerged as one of Colony’s most unforgettable parts, offering tension even more suffocating than the zombie outbreak itself. The actress who leaves audiences furious yet impressed after walking out of theaters is none other than Chae Seo Eun, who plays the infuriatingly bossy character in the film.
Colony follows a group of survivors trapped in a quarantined building after a mysterious infection outbreak, forcing them into a desperate fight against infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways. In the film, Chae Seo Eun takes on the role of a bully teenager and completely transforms into one of the most memorable villains in recent Korean cinema.
From her visual transformation to her rough mannerisms and tough attitude, Chae Seo Eun completely immerses herself in the role. During moments of extreme survival, his character repeatedly makes selfish and frustrating decisions, creating a layered “troublemaker” that audiences love to hate. Even in the midst of the terrifying zombie mayhem, his performance continually fuels viewers’ anger, taking the film’s suspense to another level.
Film critic Lee Dong Jin also drew attention to Chae Seo Eun’s performance through his YouTube channel B tv Lee Dong Jin’s Piaakia, describing the character as “a collection of every possible negative trait condensed into one person”. He even gave her the memorable nickname “an annoying superhero,” sparking further discussion online.

Chae Seo Eun first gained attention after making her stunning debut in the tvN drama Mr. Queen. Since then, he has steadily built an impressive filmography in both television and film, appearing in dramas such as Friendly Rivalry, High Cookie and Forecasting Love and Weather, as well as the film Good Deal.
Notably, in the film How to Open the Door produced by Kim Nam Gil, Chae Seo Eun played the lead role of Ha Neul, earning praise for her delicate emotional performance. The short film subsequently gained recognition in the short film competition category at the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth, further highlighting her growing credentials as an actress.
Meanwhile, Colony maintained its position at the top spot at the Korean box office from its release on May 21st until June 6th. The film also broke records as the fastest Korean release this year, surpassing 1 million, 2 million, 3 million and 4 million viewers. Its cumulative audience number currently stands at 4,523,309 viewers.
