IVE member Jang Wonyoung has once again become the center of concern among fans after reportedly facing a dangerous situation during a recent show in China.
Jang Wonyoung followed by Sasaeng fans in China
Reports of Jang Wonyoung being hounded by obsessive fans during her activities in China have quickly become a major topic online. The controversy began after a short video circulated widely on social media platforms, showing footage shot around the idol’s vehicle.
According to fans, while Jang Wonyoung was spending private time inside the car, a sasaeng fan deliberately approached from behind and pressed his phone against the vehicle window to film her. The individual allegedly even pointed the camera directly at his phone’s screen.
After noticing the unusual behavior, Jang Wonyoung reportedly responded by turning on his front camera and recording the individual in return. Fans believe he did this to warn the person and signal that the harassment needed to stop.

Another video shared by fans appeared to show multiple vehicles continuously following and chasing the mode of transportation used by Jang Wonyoung and his fellow IVE members during their program in China.
As soon as the photos and videos spread online, a wave of anger erupted among fans. Many expressed outrage that the idol’s fundamental right to privacy was violated even while he was inside a closed vehicle.
In online communities and social media platforms, netizens strongly condemned the actions of the sasaeng fans involved. At the same time, many have called for Starship Entertainment to strengthen security measures and take legal action to better protect the artist’s safety.

Jang Wonyoung later addressed the situation herself through a fan communication platform. The singer has openly shared how disturbing it is to see strangers suddenly approach her and point cameras or phones directly at her face during personal moments. She also expressed hope that people would treat her with more respect and courtesy.
Notably, this is not the first time the IVE member has faced such issues. In August 2024, he issued a similar message urging fans to maintain appropriate boundaries and meet artists through official events such as concerts rather than through invasive behavior.
The price of Jang Wonyoung’s enormous popularity
Jang Wonyoung is currently one of the most influential female idols of the fourth generation of K-pop. Its immense popularity has helped IVE achieve great success through hit songs such as “Eleven”, “Love Dive” and “After LIKE”.
In addition to her music career, she serves as an ambassador for numerous luxury fashion and beauty brands and consistently ranks among South Korea’s most recognizable celebrities. Jang Wonyoung regularly tops the charts on brand reputation and media influence, further cementing her status as one of the industry’s biggest stars.

Her enormous popularity has earned her a huge fan base not only in South Korea but around the world. However, the same level of fame has also made her a frequent target of extreme stalking behavior from sasaeng fans, as well as unfair criticism and negative stereotypes spread by some online communities.
Recently, Jang Wonyoung and his agency have taken aggressive legal action to protect his reputation. Starship Entertainment has officially filed a lawsuit against anonymous websites and social media accounts that allegedly spread malicious comments, defamatory content and false rumors about the singer.

The agency’s decision to pursue legal measures regardless of location received widespread public support and was seen as a necessary step after previous successful civil and criminal lawsuits against creators of harmful online content.
Jang Wonyoung’s extraordinary fame has undoubtedly brought her immense success, recognition and opportunities. At the same time, it also exposed her to the darker side of celebrity life, including the relentless invasions of privacy and the grueling challenges posed by obsessive fans.
