MEOVV is gearing up for a big comeback with the Bite Now EP on June 1st, but despite impressive visuals and heavy investment, the rookie group is still struggling to recapture the explosive attention they received during their debut.

Recently released teasers and concept photos for the project immediately sparked positive reactions online thanks to the dramatic transformation of the group’s image. Unlike MEOVV’s early youthful concepts, the members now embrace a darker and more mysterious aesthetic filled with edgy style, cool visuals and cinematic storytelling.

The Bite Now trailers are strongly characterized by black and white tones, disturbing atmospheres and symbolic images linked to temptation and rebellion. Fans have also noticed multiverse-inspired elements woven into the teasers, with each member portrayed as a separate identity existing in contrasting worlds.

Many netizens praised the visual direction of the comeback, describing the project as luxurious, creepy and trendy. Some viewers have even compared the scale of production to science fiction films due to its elaborate set design and high-budget execution.

The group’s agency also received praise for abandoning the project “typical group of teenagers” image in favor of a more mature and edgy identity. Many fans believe the change could help MEOVV separate itself from safer concepts commonly associated with new K-pop girl groups.

However, despite the strong visual response, the overall level of public interest surrounding the return did not increase significantly.

Compared to the massive media hype surrounding their debut, Bite Now appears to generate far less mainstream discussion – a surprising development given the group’s strong industry support and luxury brand.

MEOVV originally debuted under The Black Label, the agency founded by famed producer Teddy Park. Since the beginning, the group has attracted enormous attention thanks to Teddy’s reputation and constant comparisons to BLACKPINK.

Their debut single Meow became an instant hit upon release in September 2024, earning 5.1 million global streams in its first week and landing at No. 10 on Billboard’s Global Digital Song Sales chart. Subsequent songs, including Toxic and Body, further strengthened their popularity and helped the group win the award for Favorite Emerging Artist MAMA Awards 2024.

At the center of MEOVV’s early popularity was member Ella Gross, who had already built global recognition as a luxury child model, often nicknamed “the cutest baby model in the world.” The remaining members – Gawon, Sooin, Anna and Narin – have also attracted attention for their visuals, dancing skills, vocal abilities and strong individual branding.

Despite the promising start, industry watchers believe the group’s momentum has slowed significantly over time.

Even after releasing their first EP My Eyes Open Vvide in 2025 with tracks like Hands Up and Drop Top, MEOVV struggled to maintain the same level of viral attention they enjoyed during their debut promotions.

The situation creates significant pressure for the group, especially given the enormous expectations placed on them from the beginning. With strong corporate support, a luxury brand, and comparisons to BLACKPINK, many fans expected MEOVV to immediately dominate the fourth-generation K-pop scene.

Now, Bite Now could become the group’s biggest release yet.

While the visual transformation of the comeback has successfully impressed fans, many believe that the actual quality of the music will ultimately determine whether MEOVV can reignite public interest and secure a stronger position in the increasingly competitive K-pop industry.
