On April 22, Byeon Woo Seok and IU appeared together on the YouTube show Yoo on the radiohosted by Yoo In Na. During the episode, Yoo In Na pointed out that this marked their first reunion in 10 years.
The two previously worked together in the 2016 drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeoand now they will reunite in the upcoming MBC series Perfect crown.
IU reflected on the coincidence, saying, “It’s amazing how fate works,” while Byeon Woo Seok echoed her sentiment, describing the reunion as something equally surreal.
Looking back on their first collaboration, Byeon Woo Seok talked about a scene that has stayed with him over the years.
“I was really grateful, but also really sorry,” he admitted. At the time, he played IU’s unfaithful boyfriend and had to play a scene where he pushed her during an argument.
Since he was still inexperienced, he was worried about how the scene would turn out: “I tried to be careful, but IU is so slim. I didn’t think I pushed her that hard, but she fell more than I expected. I remember feeling really bad.”
IU responded with understanding and reassurance, recalling the moment with a lighter perspective: “You pushed me hard, but you immediately helped me up,” she said with a smile.
He also noted that back then, their screen time together was limited: “We didn’t have many scenes together. The only happy time was taking set photos, and then we had to film that intense scene right away.”
This time things are different. With their upcoming drama, IU expressed excitement at finally having the chance to work together more closely: “I’m really happy that we can act together for a longer period now.”
Their reunion not only highlights how far both actors have come in their careers, but also adds emotional depth to their on-screen chemistry.
