Amid the ongoing fallout from Cha Eun-woo’s tax evasion allegations, public support from well-known figures has emerged on social media.
Lee Joo-young, a fourth-generation heir to the Daelim Group and influencer, has publicly shown support for Cha Eun-woo, who is currently under scrutiny.
On April 8, Cha Eun-woo released his second official statement regarding the tax charges against him.
He bowed again, writing, “I sincerely apologize for disappointing and confusing fans and many others regarding the recent tax controversy involving me.” He added, “I respect the procedures and findings of the National Tax Service and have paid all relevant taxes to avoid further confusion.”
In response, Lee Joo-young indirectly expressed support by liking the post on her account.
Meanwhile, Korean-American actress Arden Cho, who plays Rumi in the Netflix series KPop Demon Huntershe also publicly showed support for Cha Eun-woo on social media.
In a comment under Cha Eun-woo’s first apology post in January, Arden Cho wrote: “I always support you, Dongseng, Hwaiting!” conveying open encouragement.

After the controversy expanded, Arden Cho clarified: “My comment was only a personal gesture of comfort and was not intended to judge or defend the matter. I regret that my private feelings were interpreted publicly. I will be more careful in the future.”
Meanwhile, Cha Eun-woo reportedly received a notification from the National Tax Service totaling approximately KRW 20 billion, including income taxes and penalties.
However, the actual amount paid appears to be lower, around KRW 13 billion. Fantagio said: “Part of the payment will be adjusted through the NTS refund process, so the actual financial burden is expected to be around KRW 13 billion, as advised by our accountant.”
