ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Kim Geon Woo Faces ‘FD Power Abuse’ Accusations, Agency Issues Official Apology

ALPHA DRIVE ONE member Kim Geon Woo has addressed recent allegations of so-called “abuse of power FD”, as his agency WakeOne released an official statement clarifying the situation.

The controversy first surfaced online earlier this year, when a now-deleted post alleged that a staff member working as a contract FD (floor manager) at a broadcast station had been subjected to inappropriate behavior by a rookie idol. Screenshots of the post continued to circulate, fueling speculation about Kim Geon Woo’s involvement.

On April 9, WakeOne confirmed that the incident in question occurred before the idol’s debut during a content filming session. According to the agency, Kim Geon Woo was unaware that his microphone was still on when he expressed his dissatisfaction using inappropriate words.

The company stressed that the remarks were not directed at any specific individual and were made in the form of a private mutter. However, he acknowledged that the language used was inappropriate, regardless of intent, and issued a formal apology.

WakeOne also revealed that Kim Geon Woo apologized directly to the production staff at the time, and the matter was resolved on the spot via communication. The agency explained that the delay in issuing an official statement was due to the need to verify facts as further claims continued to spread online.

Additionally, the company has strongly denied other allegations circulating, saying they are untrue and urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.

As for his activities, Kim Geon Woo will temporarily suspend promotions. WakeOne said the idol is currently reflecting on his actions and has decided, in agreement with the agency, to take time for self-reflection. He will not participate in upcoming programs, including planned activities and a fan concert.

As a result, ALPHA DRIVE ONE will continue promotions as a seven-member group for the time being. Previously recorded broadcasts and pre-produced content may still be released as planned.

The agency concluded by promising to improve its artist management system and communications processes, as well as strengthen internal training and support to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The situation has once again highlighted the ongoing discussions surrounding idol conduct and treatment of staff within the entertainment industry, with both fans and the public carefully watching how agencies respond to such controversies.
