Dancer Gabee Reveals US Visa Refusal, Banned for 10 Years ‘Judged by Appearance’

On April 3, a video titled “Various frustrating stories” was uploaded to Gabee’s YouTube channel, where Gabee appeared alongside singer John Park to listen to viewers’ concerns and offer advice.

Discussing the story of someone studying in France but wanting to return to Korea, John Park shared his experience. He said, “When I came to Korea at 23, I only spoke English and barely knew Korean Superstar KI sang badly and it was a disaster,” drawing laughter.

Surprised, Gabee asked him how he managed to speak Korean so fluently. John Park replied: “I naturally improved while doing broadcasts. If you make mistakes, you fall behind. People said, ‘Overseas Koreans can’t do it,’ so I had to adapt.”

Gabee then shared his backstory, revealing: “I really wanted to live in Los Angeles, but I couldn’t because I was denied a visa. I couldn’t get a student visa and I couldn’t go to the United States for 10 years. They kept suspecting me, thinking I would stay there forever.”

He continued, “When I asked the embassy why I had received the ‘orange card’ (visa refusal notice), they said there was no reason,” adding: “Even now I can go to the US, but I still get sent to a secondary inspection every time.”

Hearing this, John Park reacted with shock, saying: “Isn’t this judging someone solely based on appearance?” Gabee replied, “Maybe they thought something was wrong. It wasn’t that I was wearing heavy makeup – I looked very calm. But maybe they just made a bad impression.”

He concluded, “I always wanted to live there, but looking back now, maybe it would have been better to live in Korea and visit Los Angeles often.”
