TWICE’s Chaeyoung’s Back Injury Forces Idol to Skip US Leg of ‘THIS IS FOR’ World Tour

TWICE member Chaeyoung was forced to delay her departure to the United States after suddenly experiencing back pain on March 26, raising concerns about her participation in the remaining American leg of the group’s “THIS IS FOR” world tour.

JYP Entertainment announced Thursday that Chaeyoung “suddenly felt an abnormality in her back this morning” while preparing to fly with her group mates and was unable to board the scheduled flight.

The agency said she “urgently needs a medical examination” and will remain in South Korea to undergo hospital treatment while the rest of the members travel to the United States without her, according to reports. Allkpop.

“After carefully checking the test results and his recovery progress, he plans to leave as soon as possible,” JYP Entertainment said, according to StarNews Korea. The agency also warned that even if Chaeyoung rejoins the tour, “some performances may be limited.”

The announcement comes just one day before TWICE performs at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on March 27 and 28. His participation in those shows and subsequent U.S. dates, including stops in Charlotte, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Saint Paul, Denver and Austin through mid-April, remains unconfirmed. Chaeyoung’s back problem adds to the growing health concerns within the group. Fellow performer Dahyun was also excluded from upcoming performances after JYP Entertainment confirmed on March 25 that she would be suspending all activities due to a broken ankle suffered during the previous North American leg in January, as reported by The Korea Herald. Dahyun initially tried to continue performing while sitting, but had been absent from shows since mid-February.

This is not Chaeyoung’s first absence from the tour due to health reasons. In November 2025, she was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope and took a break until the end of the year, skipping tour stops in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong and Bangkok, according to Soompi. She returned for the first North American leg starting in January 2026 and performed during the Taipei shows in late March before this latest setback, as per Soompi.

The “THIS IS FOR” world tour, which kicked off on July 19, 2025 in Incheon, South Korea, is TWICE’s largest tour to date, featuring 78 shows in 43 cities around the world and running through June 4, 2026 in London. JYP Entertainment said it will notify fans of any changes to the program through official channels.
