AKMU’s Lee Suhyun Goes Viral For Skinny Transformation After ‘Mental Reform Camp’ With Brother Lee Chanhyuk

AKMU member Lee Suhyun is once again in the spotlight after showing off a noticeably slimmer look in the preview of Take the block quizsparking renewed interest in his past fitness journey and viral workout clips.

The teaser, released on March 25, revisited a story from Suhyun’s crisis period, during which his brother Lee Chanhyuk created what he called a “mental reform camp” to help her find her motivation again. Suhyun described the routine as a “Marine Corps Style Program”, explaining that his days started early with exercise, followed by personal development activities, personal training sessions and a strict 10pm bedtime. “(Lee Chanhyuk) is a former marine, so it was beyond belief,” he said, jokingly adding that he might consider running away from home.

Chanhyuk made it clear that the program wasn’t about himself but about supporting his sister so that he could prove himself without regrets. However, Suhyun’s playful reaction – covering her ears and ignoring him – highlighted the duo’s well-known sibling chemistry, eliciting laughter from viewers.

In addition to the story, Suhyun’s sharper jawline and slimmer facial features quickly became a hot topic online. Her transformation had already led to speculation about the use of weight-loss drugs such as Wegovy, but she firmly denied these rumors. She emphasized that her approach focuses on healthy and sustainable habits, saying she maintains her routine by resisting favorite foods like mala tang and tteokbokki while consistently exercising and “struggling with herself every day”.

Interest in his transformation grew further after a recent video uploaded to AKMU’s official YouTube channel showed Suhyun training under Chanhyuk’s guidance. In the clip, he ironically exclaimed, “Life is hard” while lifting weights, and jokingly yelled at her brother to leave when he pushed her to increase the intensity, creating a relatable and viral moment among fans.

Meanwhile, AKMU recently ended its exclusive contract with YG Entertainment at the end of December and has since launched an independent company with its longtime manager. The duo will return on April 7 with their fourth album “BLOOMING,” marking their first studio release in around six years since then “NAVIGATION.”
