The film “The king’s guardian” officially surpassed 14.44 million viewers, rising to third place on the all-time Korean box office chart.

This figure surpasses the previous record no. 3 detained by “Together with the Gods: The Two Worlds,” which attracted 14.41 million viewers.

Currently, the number one spot on the all-time Korean box office chart remains.”The Admiral: Roaring currents” with 17.61 million viewers, followed by “Extreme work” in second place with 16.26 million.

Directed by Jang Hang-jun, “The king’s guardian” marks his first film to surpass 10 million viewers. The story follows the deposed King Danjong (played by Park Ji-hoon), who spends the final chapter of his life in exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, forming bonds with village chief Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin) and local residents.
The film had previously surpassed the 10 million mark on its 31st day of release, becoming the first Korean film in two years to achieve the feat since 2024.Connection” and “The Roundup: Punishment.”
