Kim Ju Ha is an actress and MC who has received considerable love from South Korean audiences. She once attracted attention for appearing in the film Truewhere he worked alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Sulli. Recently, on March 14, she appeared on a talk show uploaded to psychologist Oh Eun Young’s YouTube channel. During the programme, she shocked viewers by revealing painful details about her marriage to a businessman.
According to Kim Ju Ha, she celebrated her wedding in Korea with the businessman in 2004. At the time, the man had secretly hidden the fact that he had already married in the United States by forging documents, successfully deceiving her. Even more shocking, when he started dating Kim Ju Ha, he was still legally married to his first wife. The actress only discovered the truth some time after their wedding, when she accidentally found documents proving her previous marriage in the United States while cleaning her mother-in-law’s wardrobe.
When Kim Ju Ha confronted her husband about the matter, he showed no remorse and instead responded in a way that left her furious and stunned. He reportedly said: “Are you that mad? Then just get divorced.” Recalling that moment, Kim Ju Ha tearfully said that those words shocked her deeply, especially because their first child had not even turned one at the time.
In the years that followed, the tragedy of her marriage continued. The actress said she was shocked when she discovered that her husband had rented an apartment for his mistress directly across the street from their home. According to her, he even brought his son to visit the woman.
Kim Ju Ha revealed that when she confronted her husband with evidence of her affair, he responded with violence. Through tears, she explained that he physically attacked her to protect his lover. The assault reportedly left her with a ruptured eardrum and she still suffers from hearing problems in one ear. She also revealed that she had been assaulted twice by her husband and during an accident she fell and suffered a brain haemorrhage.
In another incident, the businessman allegedly strangled her simply because she refused to wear the clothes he bought for her, forcing her to be admitted to hospital for emergency treatment.
The violence didn’t stop with her. According to Kim Ju Ha, her husband also abused her son. She said she could bear to be attacked herself, but could not accept seeing her son hurt. She recalled an incident where their son was playing hide and seek and came out later than expected. Her husband reportedly grabbed the child by the collar and slapped him repeatedly. The actress stated that this happened twice.
Unable to continue living in what he described “a living hell”, Kim Ju Ha eventually filed for divorce from the businessman. Ultimately, she won custody of the children and received 50 million won in compensation for the emotional damage caused by her husband.
At the time of the divorce, the couple had assets of about 2.7 billion won. Notably, almost all of that wealth had been earned by Kim Ju Ha herself. At the time of the division of their assets, her husband would be left with only 320,000 won due to excessive spending on himself and his mistress. Despite this, the court ordered Kim Ju Ha to give him 1.021 billion won as part of the asset division:money that many observers believe she worked tirelessly to earn on her own.
The situation became even more bitter after the divorce papers were signed. According to Kim Ju Ha, her ex-husband showed his true character by emptying the house of all his belongings immediately after their separation.
