Psychiatrist and TV personality Yang Jae Woong, currently on trial in connection with a patient death case, has been ordered to undergo additional investigations as the case continues to develop.
According to a March 9 media report, the victim’s family was notified of the update via a “Criminal Justice Information System Job Notification” text message sent on March 6.
The request for further investigation concerns the accusation of professional negligence resulting in death. It applies not only to Yang Jae Woong but also to seven other hospital staff members who are on trial along with him.
In addition to the supplementary investigation order, Yang Jae Woong faces several other charges, including violations of the Law on the Promotion of Mental Health and Welfare of Persons with Mental Illnesses, the Medical Services Law and the Emergency Medical Services Law.
During the ongoing legal proceedings, the victim’s family has reportedly suffered severe emotional distress. The victim’s father is said to have lost sight in one eye due to stress related to the case.
