Recently, hair artist Cha Cha (Cha Jong Hyun), who is responsible for styling the hair of BLACKPINK, Sunmi and (G)I-DLE, appeared on the YouTube channel Workers above and talked about Rosé’s long blonde transformation.
“Rosé has kept her hair blonde for about 7 years,” he shared. “Once every two weeks.” She explained that bleaching and dyeing are done on a strict bi-weekly schedule to keep the color flawless from root to tip.
Cha admitted that he once suggested extending the interval for the sake of scalp and hair health. He remembered telling her: “For the health of your hair and scalp, shouldn’t we take a little more time?” However, Rosé responded firmly as a public figure, how she is seen by the public is more important to her than concerns about harm.
After hearing this, Cha said he had nothing more to discuss and instead focused on minimizing damage through the technique. “Bleaching products may be similar everywhere, but I have my own recipe,” he explained, adding that he developed a method to reduce patchiness and lessen damage while achieving the bright blonde shade that Rosé is known for. Even if revealed, he said, it wouldn’t be easy to replicate.
The most surprising detail was his travel routine. Every two weeks, Cha flies wherever Rosé is, including Los Angeles, San Francisco or Paris, for same-day appointments. He described arriving in the morning, reaching his hotel around noon, having lunch and spending three or four hours bleaching and dyeing. Afterwards, return briefly to your hotel before returning to the airport the same evening.
“It takes almost twelve hours to get to Los Angeles, but I stay in the United States for less than twelve hours,” he said, adding that the trip to Paris takes about fourteen hours. The repeated long-haul flights also caused problems in the pelvis and coccyx due to the strain.
When Cha mentioned how physically exhausting the day trips were, Rosé would arrange business class tickets for him, even for single-day schedules. He emphasized that the gesture was not simply of money, but of consideration and care, said it reflected his thoughtfulness towards the people he works with.
