On February 23, Swing Entertainment announced it IOI will return in May to commemorate their 10th debut anniversary. The group will consist of nine members, excluding Zhou Jieqiong, currently active in China, and Kang Mina, who had previously expressed his intention not to participate.
In particular, IOI they had attempted a reunion in 2019, but the plan ultimately fell through. Some six years later, discussions resumed, with the participation of members whose involvement had once been uncertain. Actress Kim So Hye, musical theater actress Yoo Yeon Jung and solo artist Jeon Somi have been confirmed to unite, forming one of the biggest possible reunion lineups and heightening fans’ anticipation.
In the meantime, I want one they will also reunite seven years after disbanding and four years after the release of their digital single ““Side B.”” The group has confirmed the production of a new reality show entitled “I want to go” this year. On February 1, they shared handwritten messages via their official SNS accounts, telling fans their thoughts on the comeback.
Given the nature of male idol groups, military enlistment and individual schedules were considered major obstacles, leading many to expect a longer wait for a reunion. However, thanks to the strong determination of the members, the project would move forward relatively quickly. Kang Daniel, who is currently serving in the military, is expected to participate on a limited schedule. Meanwhile, the participation of Lai Kuan Lin, who retired from the entertainment industry, remains uncertain.

Formed via Mnet’s Produce series, IOI AND I want one debuted in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Both groups have left a significant mark in the industry with hit songs like ““Very very very”” “”Downpour,”” ““Energetic,”” AND “”Boomerang.”” While their original promotional runs didn’t overlap significantly, their simultaneous return this year puts them side by side in the public eye for the first time.
Industry observers suggest that their meeting activities could influence the broader trajectory of the project teams, including their junior team IZ*ONE. As each member has established individual careers as a solo artist, actor, and entertainer, expectations are high regarding the fandom’s renewed power and the influence they could generate.
With both groups officially confirming their projects, many are watching closely to see if this marks a turning point in the trend of reviving project team meetings.
