Actor Lee Sung-min recently opened up about his adult daughter, sharing heartfelt memories and funny yet honest parenting stories during his appearance on his YouTube channel Pinggyego. During the show, Lee Sung-min revealed that his daughter, who is currently in her senior year of college, still displays mixed behaviors depending on whether she is at home or away. She joked that while she acts mature in public, she acts like a child at home.
She recalled a time when she saw her daughter talking politely on the phone to her part-time boss while the family was eating. Lee Sung-min humorously expressed surprise at his respectful tone, noting that he rarely shows the same level of responsibility at home. She added that although she appears relaxed at home, she works diligently, carrying stacks of dishes and even helping close the restaurant after shifts before socializing with friends.
Lee Sung-min also reflected on his marriage during a previous appearance on tvN’s Take the block quiz in 2023. He shared that his wife initially asked him out, which eventually led to marriage, though she later asked him not to mention that detail publicly. The actor expressed deep gratitude towards his wife for enduring nearly a decade of financial hardship before their situation improved.
Speaking openly about family life, Lee Sung-min revealed that although his daughter was not planned, she has become a source of happiness for the couple. He recalled experiencing financial difficulties while raising her, explaining that although he and his wife could endure hardships, they felt guilty that their daughter had to experience them as well.
The actor shared a vivid memory of his 35th birthday, after moving to Seoul, when money was extremely tight. She remembered buying cheap thinly sliced pork belly for around KRW 1,000 to feed her daughter, who loved meat. Lee Sung-min said he still clearly remembers a time when the family ate together in a modest restaurant, piling bean sprouts on top of the meat to lengthen the meal, while silently worrying about a lack of money. He added that he still remembers the somber look on his wife’s face at that time.
Lee Sung-min previously revealed on another variety program that his daughter is majoring in production in the theater and film department and is currently preparing for graduation. She surprised viewers by sharing that she rejected her request to appear in her graduation project. When asked if his daughter planned to follow in his footsteps as an actor, Lee Sung-min firmly stated that he discouraged her from pursuing acting. He explained that just as he advised against it, his wife, who has a degree in dance, also discouraged their daughter from pursuing a dance career.
