Chinese social media is in an uproar following a series of controversial statements made by former idol and current entertainment blogger Yi Yi Zi, who recently dragged G-DRAGON into an unexpected personal vindication.
Yi Yi Zi, once active in the entertainment industry as a singer and actress, shocked netizens after she publicly stated that she “I almost became G-DRAGON’s girlfriend.” His observations, which included what he described as private and sensitive detailsquickly went viral and sparked intense backlash in Chinese online communities.
In the widely circulated clip, Yi Yi Zi said that she drank alcohol once with G-DRAGON and mocked his alcohol tolerance, claiming that he had “got him completely drunk.” He went on to make even more inflammatory comments, saying this if he hadn’t passed out on the couch, she “would have had to think carefully about choosing between TOP or G-DRAGON.” He further added that purchasing tickets for BIG BANG the concerts could now be heard “regrettable” because of their so-called quasi-relationship.
These statements were immediately met with skepticism and anger from Chinese netizens. Many have pointed out the lack of logic in his story, pointing out that G-DRAGON is known to be closely guarded by security personnel in both private and public settings. According to public opinion, the idea that a stranger could casually drink with him – let alone get him drunk – was considered highly unrealistic.

A large number of netizens have accused Yi Yi Zi of making up stories to gain attention, and some have expressed concern that such claims could spill over into the Korean entertainment sphere and damage the already fragile reputation of Chinese entertainment abroad.
The controversy also reignited discussions about Yi Yi Zi’s declining career. Born on November 8, 1987, with the real name Yi Qiulan, she previously promoted under the stage name Yi Di Zi. She began her career as a professional model and entered the Top 300 nationwide SuperGirl 2009. She later debuted as a member of the multinational girl group I Iwhich included Chinese, Thai and Korean members.
Yi Yi Zi’s peak period came during his time with I I. The group gained modest recognition with first generation idol music, especially song Aishiteiru. However, after the group disbanded in 2013, his solo career failed to gain momentum.
