Netflix’s critically acclaimed series BEEF officially returns for season two, and the newly revealed cast has already generated huge buzz. On January 21 (local time), Netflix announced via its global fan event platform Tudum that the second season of BEEF will premiere worldwide on April 16. Once again, Korean-American creator Lee Sung Jin returns as showrunner, leading both the creative vision and production following the immense success of the first season.
The second season shifts its setting to an elite, upper-class country club, where a Generation Z couple becomes entangled in the explosive marital conflict of their millennial boss and his wife. What begins as an uncomfortable witness to an argument soon turns into a deeper confrontation with power, class, and pent-up anger, expanding the series’ emotional reach while maintaining its signature tension.
Veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung, 78, takes on the role of President Park, the powerful president of the luxury country club, while Song Kang Ho, 59, plays her second husband, Dr. Kim. Despite their 19-year age gap, the two portray a married couple whose relationship adds an extra layer of complexity and gravity to the story. Their casting alone fueled expectations of award-worthy performances. They are joined by Hollywood heavyweights Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Charles Melton, further elevating the new season’s reach and global appeal.
Director Lee Sung Jin explained that the second season explores a different shade of anger than its predecessor. “This time, we wanted the conflict to feel more passive aggressive,” he said, emphasizing the quiet, internalized anger often experienced in professional settings rather than overt outbursts of emotion.

The original BEEF series was a huge critical triumph, garnering major awards including Primetime Emmy Awards. It won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, as well as awards for directing, writing, acting, casting, costume design and editing, taking home eight trophies out of 11 nominations. With this legacy behind it, the second season faces high expectations but also strong confidence from critics and fans alike.
