During the episode, host Yoo Byung-jae talked about Go Youn-jung’s role Manual for residentsmentioning that he once said that he wouldn’t want to meet a doctor like his character Oh Yi-young in real life.
In response, Go Youn-jung explained: “When I played Oh Yi-young, there was nothing about her that I didn’t understand. But when I thought about it from the perspective of a patient, it seemed like she couldn’t empathize at all and just didn’t care.” He added, “These kinds of doctors are necessary, but if it were a long-term serious illness, I think doctors like Nam-kyung or Jae-il, who offer words of hope, empathy and comfort, would be better.”
Yoo Byung-jae then asked if memorizing medical terminology had been difficult. Go Youn-jung replied confidently, “If you memorize without thinking too much, it’s manageable. Once you understand what the abbreviations mean, it really gets easier. You start to learn about the organs, too,” impressing everyone on set.
Jonathan later asked her if her experience in the medical drama had been useful in real life, such as during hospital visits. Go Youn-jung answered honestly, “Not really. I realized how busy doctors actually are.” Then he added with a smile: “But since I played a gynecologist, it made me want to have a healthy birth one day.”
Her candid remarks gained attention for offering a glimpse into how deeply she immersed herself in the role and how the experience left a lasting impression beyond the screen.
