On January 4th, a new video titled “The First Year of Becoming a Mom and Dad | Hysterosalpingography, Countdown to 2026, Hike to Cheonggyesan” was uploaded to Ailee’s YouTube channel. In the video, Ailee visits an OB/GYN clinic with her husband, Choi Si Hoon, to undergo a hysterosalpingography procedure as part of their IVF journey.
Trying to calm her nerves by playing a game, Ailee said, “I’m so nervous that I keep doing the same thing over and over again. I hear it hurts, so I’m scared.”
Choi Si Hoon mentioned their child’s nickname, saying: “Coco, you have to be good to mom and dad,” to which Ailee responded with a laugh, “We’ve already created a nickname for a child that doesn’t exist yet. It might as well not even exist.”
After arriving at the clinic and completing the procedure, Ailee admitted: “It hurt me” but I tried not to show how difficult it was. The couple lowered their heads and looked at each other affectionately.
After finishing all the medical tests, the two stopped at a restaurant. Recalling the procedure, Ailee said, “When I walked in saying ‘I’ll be back,’ the first thing I saw were expectant mothers lying on hospital beds.” He continued, “Some were in a lot of pain and others were just lying there because the anesthesia hadn’t worn off yet.”
He added, “When I was about to have the surgery to open my fallopian tubes, it was really painful. What scared me most was hearing, ‘If it hurts too much, don’t take it. Some people faint if they hold it.'”
Ailee went on to say: “After the surgery, they told me to lie down for about ten minutes. The images of expectant mothers I had seen before kept coming back to me, and I thought about how everyone endures such difficult and painful processes because they want children.” He emotionally added, “As I lay there, the tears kept falling. I cried along with them, hoping that everyone would succeed.”
Meanwhile, Ailee and Choi Si Hoon got married in May last year at a location in Gangnam, Seoul.
