Former AOA member Kwon Mina has raised serious concerns after posting an alarming message on social media that appeared to hint at suicidal intent. The post was uploaded on January 1 and was later deleted.
In the message, Kwon Mina wrote, “Goodbye. And I’m sorry,” while expressing himself extreme emotional distress AND apologizing repeatedly to those who had followed his story. He stated that she had not been in a stable mental state and described herself as feeling deeply offended by a series of past incidents. He also referenced previous trauma, including sexual assault, in explaining it while some aspects had been recognised, others had not been legally proven, which increased his sense of injustice.
Shortly after the post was published, it was confirmed that Kwon Mina attempted suicide in the early hours of New Year’s Day but was rushed to hospital before the situation turned fatal. He later shared further posts describing the accident and his loss of consciousness, although these posts have also been deleted.
Kwon Mina debuted with AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019, later alleging prolonged bullying from other members. At the time, his claims attracted widespread sympathy and attention. However, in the years that followed, she was embroiled in numerous controversies, including allegations of abuse of medical staff and inconsistencies in her public explanations, which led to divided public opinion.
Most recently, Kwon Mina briefly signed an exclusive contract with a new agency before quickly terminating it. He also announced plans related to future fan activities.
