Once celebrated as the “princess of Chinese entertainment,” Ady An was admired for her beauty, successful acting career and what appeared to be a dream marriage to extreme wealth. However, behind the glittering titles and luxurious gifts lurked a suffocating reality that ultimately collapsed into scandal, imprisonment and personal devastation.
From Idol Drama Star to Showbiz Darling
Born in 1980 in Taiwan, Ady An came from a financially comfortable family and rose to fame through popular Chinese-language television series. With her gentle image and expressive acting, she has become a beloved “jade beauty” of idol dramas, earning wide recognition through works such as The Outsiders (2004), Chinese Paladin (2005), and Autumn’s Concerto (2009).
Her career flourished throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, placing her among the most recognizable actresses in the Chinese entertainment industry. Yet, just as his professional life reached its peak, his personal life took a dramatic turn.
A fairytale proposal worth 71 billion won
After a series of failed relationships, Ady An met businessman Levo Chen, CEO of Tak Chun Group and a Macau-based real estate and casino tycoon with an estimated net worth of more than $1.4 billion.

Levo Chen reportedly persistently pursued her for nearly two years, following her across cities and towns. In 2017, he proposed with a 10.75-carat diamond ring worth RMB 20 million (about 71 billion won). Their extravagant weddings in Hawaii and Taiwan were attended by numerous celebrities, cementing her image as a star who had “married into the royal family.”
After marriage, Ady An moved away from acting and focused on family life. She gave birth to a son in 2018 and a daughter in 2020. Her husband has publicly displayed his wealth through lavish gifts, including luxury properties, high-value jewelry and company shares, fueling public envy over her seemingly perfect life.
Behind the glamour: life inside a “gilded cage”
Despite the opulence, Ady An’s marriage has reportedly become increasingly restrictive. Levo Chen allegedly revealed a domineering and controlling side after marriage, closely monitoring his schedule, clothes and social activities.
According to previous interviews and reports, Ady An was forced to wait until the early hours of the morning for her husband to return home, banned from wearing revealing clothing and criticized for trivial matters such as skirt length. She once described feeling like “a janitor or a housekeeper” inside her own home.

Although surrounded by luxury villas and private jets, she reportedly lost personal freedom, endured emotional distress and lived under constant pressure trapped in what many later described as a “gilded cage”.
The collapse: prison sentence and financial ruin
In early 2022, just before the Lunar New Year, Levo Chen was arrested on charges of operating illegal gambling rings, money laundering, and leading a criminal organization. In April 2023 he was sentenced to 13 years in prison following an appeal, as well as large fines.

The fallout was immediate. Shared assets were frozen, businesses collapsed, and debts mounted. Ady An deleted family photos from social media and retreated from public view completely. Although she was summoned for questioning during the investigation, she was not charged.
Subsequent reports revealed that her husband’s family cut off contact and refused support. Rumors were circulating that Ady An would file for divorce to protect her children and avoid financial liability estimated at trillions of won. She reportedly did not visit her husband in prison, attracting both criticism and sympathy from the public.
Life after the fall
Ady An has since returned to Taiwan with her two children, living peacefully and relying on personal assets and rental income. Once known for her glamorous public image, she is now rarely seen in public and appears visibly worn, having to raise her children alone.

His story has become one of the most sobering cautionary tales in Asian entertainment, proof that wealth and luxury cannot guarantee happiness. As a woman proposed with a $71 billion diamond ring, Ady An found herself stripped of her freedom and forced to rebuild her life after scandal and loss.
Despite everything, many admire his resilience. Today, Ady An continues to focus on protecting her children and rebuilding a sense of stability, proving that true strength lies not in diamonds or mansions, but in endurance and self-preservation.
