Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung has made a shocking revelation amid her ongoing legal battle with former manager Yu Yuk Hing, revealing a rare psychological condition that profoundly affects her daily life and decision-making abilities.
Cheung is currently facing a lawsuit from Yu, who accuses her of breaching a contract and having nearly HKD13 million in unpaid debts. It claims the actress accepted advance payments for unrealized projects and showed ingratitude despite her long-term support. In response, Cecilia Cheung denied having any money and questioned Yu’s credibility, citing his past financial scandals and failed business ventures.
Although the court has yet to determine the outcome of the case, Cheung’s candid testimony about his mental health has captured the public’s attention. She revealed that she suffers from a condition that makes her irrationally afraid of numbers. “I count well from 1 to 7, but once I get to 8, I start to panic,” he confessed. He even relies on finger counting to calculate how many years he has worked in the entertainment industry.
Cheung also admitted that he couldn’t remember his phone number. The only contact he remembers is his current manager Zhou Jing Yi, with whom he has worked for many years and considers family. According to Cheung, Zhou manages almost every aspect of his life, from paying bills to managing his bank account passwords.
The actress shared that she is completely dependent on Zhou not only in her personal life but also in her professional decisions. Any offer from the entertainment industry is first screened by Zhou, who evaluates its suitability before submitting it to Cheung for final approval. “We have such similar temperaments that I rarely need to do anything I don’t want to do,” he said, expressing deep gratitude and trust in his manager.
Despite Zhou Jing Yi’s limited familiarity with the inner workings of mainland China’s entertainment scene, Cheung continues to rely on her completely, a testament to their strong bond.
