Korean movie buffs can mark their calendars:Han So Hee AND Jeon Jong Seoit is the much awaited film Project Y will officially premiere in theaters on January 21, 2026according to the distributor Plus M Entertainment.
The announcement was accompanied by evocative character posters showing the intense transformation of the film’s two protagonists. The crime thriller follows Mi-seon (Han So Hee) e Do-kyung (Jeon Jong Seo), two women living on the fringes of society, who risk everything by stealing illicit money and gold bars in a desperate attempt to change their lives.
In one character poster, Mi-seon darkly warns: “If things go wrong, we might actually die.” Do-kyung, standing on a dimly lit street, responds with reckless resolve: “If we’re doing this, let’s give it our all.”
Project Y blends high-stakes action with emotional intensity, capturing the desperation and fierce bond between its central characters. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Kim Shin Rok, Jung Young Joo, Lee Jae Kyoon, Yes, ahAND Kim Sung Cheol.
Details about the director and production have yet to be fully revealed, but early rumors say so Project Y as one of the must-see Korean films in 2026, with powerful performances and a raw, gripping plot.
Previously, Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo enthralled audiences at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). On September 10 (local time), the two stars attended the festival as the lead actresses of director Lee Hwan’s latest film, Project Y.
Han So Hee stole the show in a draped peach gown with delicate strap detailing and a plunging neckline that accentuated her striking features. She paired the look with intricately designed leaf-shaped earrings and white heels, exuding elegance and star power. Jeon Jong Seo radiated glamor in a white lace strapless gown with a daring heart-shaped neckline that fit her body like a corset, highlighting her toned physique. Long lace gloves that extended from elbow to hand completed her graceful look.

Commenting on the film selection, TIFF senior programmer Giovanna Fulvi praised the film, stating: “The powerful magnetism created by Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo, combined with adrenaline-fueled action, a wounded childhood and a fierce fight for survival, conveys both gripping tension and deep emotional resonance. Centered on a bold plan, Project Y is one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year.”
After its debut in TIFF, Project Y will be released in cinemas in South Korea, where anticipation continues to grow.
