Taiwan’s legendary boy band Little Tigers (Xiao Hu Dui) could soon make its long-awaited return. Consisting of Alec Su (Su Youpeng), Nicky Wu (Wu Qilong) and Julian Chen (Chen Zhipeng), the trio dominated the Mandopop scene in the ’90s with timeless hits like “Green apple paradise” AND “Red Dragonfly”. This week, the group announced the release of a “Little Tigers 35+ Collector’s Edition Vinyl Set,” a move that reignited reunion rumors across Asia.
Fans have long dreamed of seeing the trio back on stage. According to former manager Miao Tulei, there are internal discussions among the members “I never stopped.” She continues to hope that the right time will come to reunite in person:
“We are still working hard to find the perfect moment. I hope the group can stand together on stage again to repay the fans’ long wait.”

Formed during the Taiwanese variety show Youth challengeTHE Little tigers were created as the male counterpart to the “Little Cats”, a female idol group. Over 4,000 students auditioned, with Su, Wu and Chen emerging as the final choices.
Despite his young age, Alec Su, who was only 15 at the time, faced skepticism about his experience. But with the encouragement of influential figures like Chang Hsiao-Yen, he quickly rose to popularity and became a beloved member of the group.

Each member brought unique strengths: Su was passionate about performance despite not having a background in dance; Wu served as the team’s stabilizer and coordinator; and Chen juggled heavy school and filming schedules. Their synergy led to early success, including a fan-signed event that drew tens of thousands of people, overwhelming the venue and garnering national media attention.
This explosive popularity led to their debut album and a series of pioneering “container concerts”: mobile events held across Taiwan every weekend, often attracting crowds of tens of thousands.
Although the members have since gone on to have successful solo careers, their shared legacy has left a lasting mark. A recent performance at a televised gala attracted viral attention and was voted the highlight of the event, proof that the group’s star power remains intact.

The announcement of their 35th anniversary vinyl collection is seen not only as a nostalgic release, but potentially a prelude to a long-awaited reunion performance – a wish that fans hope will finally come true in 2025.
