Like the highly anticipated SBS drama Taxi driver 3 gears up for its premiere, actor Kim Eui Sung took it upon himself to quash rumors that he will cheat once again or, worse, emerge as the villain.
On November 21, Kim appeared in a video uploaded to the official SBS channel, stating: “I’m Kim Eui Sung and there’s something I really need to say.” The veteran actor, who reprises his role as Jang Sung Chul, CEO of Rainbow Taxi Company, stated emphatically: “A lot of people seem to watch ‘Taxi Driver’ just to see when I’m spinning. But I swear I’m not a bad guy!”
In a tone both pleading and humorous, Kim added, “I’m not the mastermind, I won’t betray anyone. This keeps me up at night. It’s already season three: what else do I have to do to convince you?”
He concluded his heartfelt appeal by urging viewers to do so “Please tune in to the premiere on Friday, November 21 at 9.55pm KST on SBS to find out whether I really cheat or not. Please trust me. Thank you,” bowing repeatedly in gratitude.
Ironically, despite his sincere denial, the Taxi driver 3 further fueled the fire by releasing a character poster that radiates classic villain vibes, further fueling suspicions about Jang Sung Chul’s allegiance.
Kim admitted he was taken aback by the image. “I saw the poster too and, honestly, I was shocked. It doesn’t look very reassuring to me either.” he said embarrassed.

Laughing at the tension, he added, “It’s a little hard for me to ask people to believe me now… but I think once you see the premiere, you’ll understand the whole story. I mean, as long as I look good, that’s what matters, right?”
Despite Kim’s best efforts, the production team cheekily ended her video message with a caption that read: “Isn’t Jang Sung Chul really a villain?”leaving a persistent question mark and ensuring the survival of speculation.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Taxi driver became a top hit for SBS. The series follows Kim Do Gi (played by Lee Je Hoon), a taxi driver from the secretive Rainbow Taxi Company, as he delivers justice on behalf of victims of wrongs. Kim Eui Sung has played Jang Sung Chul since season one, and his return in season three marks a two-year return to the same role.
