Kim Se-ui (49), head of the controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Centrehe was summoned to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on November 11, where he underwent a three-hour investigation. After coming out, he announced his intention to file a countersuit against YouTuber Eun Hyun-jang for false accusations.
The Seoul Gangnam Police Station summoned Kim as a suspect on charges of defamation and insult under the Information and Communications Network Law. This investigation marked the first in a series of 16 related cases reassigned to a special task force following multiple complaints, many of which were filed by Eun Hyun-jang, the channel’s operator The master of business.
Kim criticized the claims as unfounded, stating: “Eun manipulated comments and view counts using macros, but accused me despite never admitting it himself. This is a clear case of false accusation and I intend to sue.”

Responding to broader criticism of him and the new media, Kim said: “Considering all new media creators as cyberwreckers is just a tactic used by the old media and some left-wing groups to discredit us.”
In a telephone interview with Saemaul Broadcasting’s YouTube channel soon after the investigation, Kim said: “The session lasted three hours and went well. I know all the team leaders. I’m not afraid of being investigated, I cooperated fully. After experiencing it so many times, now it’s quick and easy.”
Reflecting on his current profession, he observed, “I started out as a journalist before moving to YouTube. But this platform has become a cesspool. Honestly, staying in traditional media seems so much better. Lately I’ve been seriously thinking about returning to journalism.”
Eun Hyun-jang had previously filed more than 10 complaints against Kim, alleging he spread false claims, including allegations of stock manipulation. During a recent National Assembly audit, it emerged that 16-20 cases involving Kim were pending with the Gangnam police but had not seen any progress, raising concerns about preferential treatment.
In response, Gangnam police acknowledged the delays and reassigned 16 cases to a special investigation team. In total, Kim is now involved in 21 separate police cases. Authorities confirmed that the task force is examining them thoroughly and may convene it again if necessary.
Separately, Kim is also under investigation for releasing a pirated audio recording in May, falsely claiming that actor Kim Soo-hyun dated the late Kim Sae-ron for six years since she was a minor. That case, along with four others, is already in advanced review and is being handled outside of the special task force.
