A video that captures what seems to be a mysterious creature in the HAN river in Seoul has become viral, rekindling local legends and arousing intense speculations on social media.
The movie, entitled “A real monster spotted in the Han a Seoul River”, was loaded on 11 July by the history of YouTube Channel Jungdam. In the video, a man fishing at night near a parking on the river near the National Assembly building in Yeouido notes a huge dark object that moves in the water.
Initially, the YouTuber suspected that it was a large fish, but while observing it more closely, his tone turned into alarm. “It’s black, huge and long. He’s coming towards me”, He says in the clip before fleeing the scene.
According to his report, the creature lingered in the area for about 20 minutes, moving continuously. He estimated that his length was between 6 and 10 meters, with a thickness of the largest body than an average human bust. “It seemed that there were two of them. I have been caught for decades, but I’ve never seen anything like that”, He added.
The video triggered a widespread curiosity and an online debate, with thousands of comments that offer various theories. Some spectators hypothesized that it could have been a la shead of lant, a crocodile or even a giant snake. Others were more skeptical, suggesting that it could be a make -up of light or floating debris.
This is not the first time that the Han river is at the center of a mystery. In 2022, such a viral video showed a large and unidentifiable object in the river, which was subsequently identified as a floating buoy.
Although no official declaration has been issued by the Soul authorities regarding the last sighting, the video continues to capture the spectators, with many playful comparisons with imaginary creatures from Korean cinema, including the monster from Bong Joon-Ho Film 2006 The hostwhich was notoriously set in the Han river.
While curiosity swells, one thing is certain: the iconic Seoul river has become the background for intrigues, mystery and a touch of folklore again.
