Blackpink‘S Jennie recently spoken with Music of clash Information about his solo album RUBY and the meaning behind his name.
“Ruby” comes from the name Jennie Ruby Jane, a name he has chosen for herself in order to have a longer name like her classmates in New Zealand.
While Jennie lived in New Zealand at a young age, he gave his life to face new challenges.
I did not know English or I was aware of the cultural background in New Zealand. I consider myself a quick student and I settled in the environment quickly enough. The cultural difference shocked me but in a good sense.

According to Jennie, the choice of the name “Ruby” has a double meaning as it also represents its strength.
The rubies symbolize courage, resilience and strength, which are qualities that I have and try to live up to everyday.

It is this identity that has helped in his training years as an interview and continues to be part of his personality to date.
When I started in Blackpink, I was so young and naive. I didn’t know what I was doing. Over time, I understood the meaning and meaning of having these girls in my life, while I was trying to understand my identity.
