NCT 127 (Korean: 엔시티 127) is a sub-unity of the group of South Korean boys NCT, formed by smenantainment. The group made their debut on 7 July 2016, with the game extended “NCT#127”, with an original range of seven members: Toeil, Toeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark and Haechan. Doyung and Johnny joined the unit in December 2016, before the release of their second EP “Limitless”, while Jungwoo completed the training in September 2018, in view of their first studio album “Regular-Irregular”.
The name “NCT 127” combines the acronym for the technology of the neo culture with the number “127”, the longitude coordinate of the city of Seoul.

Career
NCT 127 debuted on 7 July 2016, with the single “Fire Truck”, initially made up of seven members: Toeyong, Toeil, Jaehyun, Mark, Haechan, Yuta and Winwin. Their debut album “NCT #127” has exceeded iTunes graphics in several countries and the group has achieved significant success both nationally and internationally from the beginning. They also left their mark being one of the first subunits of NCT to perform on popular international platforms such as “The Ellen Degeneres Show”.
In January 2017, NCT 127 published “Limitless” with the track of the title “Limitless”, which passed multiple music charts in South Korea and earned them their first victory for the musical show. This was followed by the release of “Taste the feeling” in collaboration with Coca-Cola, marking another international milestone.
In June 2017, the group published the iconic “Cherry Bomb”, which became a favorite by fans and one of their signed tracks. Known for its powerful choreography of rhythm and surprising, the song established the unique musical identity of NCT 127. The track contributed to consolidating their presence on global musical graphics and has obtained recognition internationally.
In 2018, NCT 127 participated in the NCT 2018 project with the song “Touch” as part of the album “Empathy”. Later that year, they debuted in Japan with their mini “chain”, which presented the single “touch” and earned traction on the Oricon rankings of Japan, making it one of the first NCT subunits to have a significant impact on the Japanese market.
In 2019, NCT 127 released “We Are Superuman” in May, a mini-album that saw the global success, with the track of the title “Superuman” which has become one of the most streamy songs of the year. The international fame of the group has grown further with their US promotions, including performances at the main music festivals.
In 2020, the second album of NCT 127 “Neo Zone” saw an immense success, at the top of the Gaon album ranking and making them one of the best-selling K-pop groups of the year. Their Rebickage album, “Neo Zone: The Final Round”, has further consolidated their position in the sector. The group also published the English version of “Highway to Heaven”, marking their first release in English.
In 2021, NCT 127 released “Sticker”, their third studio album, which passed the Billboard 200 ranking, becoming the first NCT subunit to reach this company. Their single “adhesive” has also become a global success, which has traced on several international graphs. The group continued their series of successful exits, with Rebickage’s album Favorite In October, which was welcomed with critical success.
In 2022, NCT 127 published “2 Baddies”, which was a commercial success and became one of their most successful albums. The group also expanded their global fan base with international tours, including stops in North America and Europe.
In 2023, NCT 127 returned with their “Ay-Yo” Rebickage album in January, marking another milestone in their career. In 2024, Taeyong enlisted in the army in April. The group celebrated their sixth anniversary of their debut in Japan with the release of “Colors” in May. They also announced their next album “Walk” in July. However, in August 2024, the group faced a significant change since Taeil was confirmed to leave the group following accusations of sexual crime, marking a difficult moment in their career.
Despite the challenges, NCT 127 continues to maintain a strong presence in the K-Pop sector, with numerous prizes, albums at the top of the ranking and an international fan base in continuous growth. Mama, Melon Music Awards and Golden Disc Awards received more prizes for their contributions to music and their influence continues to grow globally.
