Even a megastar with a confirmed coachella set is not immune to worries when it comes to imminent exits, Blackpink’s Jennie confirmed.
The solo artist appeared as a guest on the Korean YouTube channel Ssook Ssook, where he confided in the hosts on his fears on his next solo debut, Ruby.
The laborious member of Blackpink revealed that he had focused on how to get the project out in the world for over a year, a time frame in which he also opened his agency, Oddatelier, after having moved away from YG Entertainment for solo activities.
“I worked hard on music. But the world has changed so much,” he confessed.
“In these days, just release a song does not mean that people will listen to it.”
The singer “mantra” added that the non -stop influx incoming music and content makes it easy to feel like moving from noise.
“So many contents are leaving all over. I want to do what my fans like, but I don’t know what it is,” he said.
“I have dating with my company every day. There are so many younger generation artists and I find it difficult to understand their style.”
The production team Ssook Ssook suggested that they make a dance challenge, a fashionable advertising technique that emerged on Tiktok as a way for idols to promote their music, for Jennie to involve fans with her next releases.
Jennie admitted that he is not familiar with the concept, although he is well aware of the magic that a viral dance challenge could work, in particular BTS “dynamite”, which has accumulated millions of points of view with his famous dance challenge.
“I’ve never correctly made a challenge first. Nobody has ever asked me to make one with them,” said Jennie.
Rappers Blackpink added that he did not even understand how collaborations were made.
“I’m really curious: how do you all exchange such challenges?” he said.
Ssook Ssook’s production team explained that it was a quick and efficient method to get your eyes on your music with an attractive collaboration.
“Many of them happen in the corridors of the waiting rooms of music music,” they said.
Jennie, however, expressed disappointment to never have been invited to participate.
“Every time I go, there is no one in the corridor. I’m just going on the days when nobody is there? I hoped that someone asked me to make one together, but nobody has ever done,” he said.
The Blackpink member will make his solo debut with Ruby March 7.
