“I met some of our parents secretly”

Following ADOR’s lawsuit against NewJeans to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract, the five-member group (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein) released their latest joint statement with their legal representative, the law firm Sejong.

Despite HYBE and ADOR’s initial injunction to preserve their status at the agency and prevent them from signing advertising contracts independently, NewJeans unanimously agreed not to return to the label.

“The five of us have absolutely no intention of returning to HYBE and ADOR, from which we cannot expect even the bare minimum of trust,” NewJeans stated firmly.

The “Ditto” singers, who promote themselves independently via the social media handle “jeanzforfree”, explained that they have decided to finally fight back in court against the label for continuously harming the members and many others.

At one point, Newjeans claimed that ADOR tried to abandon and replace them, accusing them of exposing their information to the media and YouTubers to create unfounded accusations and harmful content against them in public.

“HYBE and ADORE did not fulfill their agency duty to protect and nurture their artists. There were interferences large and small during our activities,” the group said.

“In fact, they even disguised the words ‘end our entertainment career’ with ‘long-term vacation’ to abandon and replace us.”

Furthermore, they added that companies slyly harass and attack them even in private.

“They also recently tried to persuade or provoke discord by secretly meeting with some of our parents,” NewJeans revealed.

“Instead of cowardly slandering and dividing others in places that are not visible, and playing the media with false facts, I hope they will be honest and upright in their dealings with right and wrong.”

Meanwhile, NewJeans, despite being firm in stating that they have legally terminated their contracts, also expressed a desire to terminate the remaining programs under ADOR to avoid further litigation and harm to those involved.
