Waterbomb Festival faces backlash over WordPress issues and more

Since the highly anticipated announcement of Waterbomb Manila 2025 in July 2024, Filipino fans have been eager to make a splash. However, on the long-awaited ticketing day, the event organizers faced a wave of backlash in the ticketing process.

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), ticket buyers vented their anger at organizers for using WordPress as the event’s ticketing platform instead of a more robust ticketing site.

One issue that fans complained about was the “crash” of the official website. Furious netizens also pointed out how they couldn’t get through the ticket protection steps without encountering an error at every step

One angry netizen wrote on

“Waterbomb PH web ticketing (was) built with WordPress. Why can’t they (have) partnered with a proper ticketing platform, oh my god,” another added.

Some were also successful in making their purchases, but did not receive QR codes, which serve as digital tickets to the festival.

To address the issues, Waterbomb Manila 2025 released an official statement.

“A system error has currently occurred on the ticketing site due to the high influx of users,” it reads.

“The error is currently being resolved. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and kindly ask for your patience and understanding.”

One frustrated fan commented: “You had almost a year to prepare. It should have been expected that there would be a high volume of users accessing the site, yet it still ended up crashing. Did you really plan for this?”

Waterbomb Manila 2025 is scheduled for February 22-23. The lineup consists of Jessi, Sunmi, Lee Chaeyeon, BI, EXO’s Chanyeol, STAYC, Kwon Eunbi, VIVIZ and many more.
