The 2024 KBS Drama Awards aired on the afternoon of January 11. KBS had held the awards ceremony on December 31, but due to the national mourning period following the Muan Airport disaster, the event was not broadcast live. Instead, the pre-recorded footage was broadcast, with Jang Sung-kyu, Seohyun, and Moon Sang-min as guests.
Best New Actresses: Hong Ye-ji and Han Su-a
The Best New Actress award was shared between Hong Ye-ji of “Love Song for Illusion” and Han Su-a of “Beauty and Mr. Romantic.”
Hong Ye-ji, from “Love Song for Illusion”, shared, “I am grateful to the director and writer for giving me the opportunity to play Yeon-wol.” He also expressed gratitude to his team, “I also want to thank the staff who treated me kindly as I was the youngest. I appreciate (Park) Jihoon, Jiwoo unnie and senior Hwang Seok-jeong who worked hard by my side. I don’t think this award was given because I was good, but rather as a warm push to do better in the future.”
Previously, Hong Ye-ji played the role of Hye-yoon, a high school student involved in a criminal incident, in the film “A Normal Family,” which premiered in October last year.
Han Su-a, of “Beauty and Mr. Romantic”, said: “I am grateful to the viewers who watched and shared the joy and tears of this 50-episode drama. Wishing you a warm and happy new year. I will continue to work hard.”
Best New Actor: Seo Beom-jun and Park Sang-nam
Seo Beom-jun of “Nothing Uncovered” expressed: “Ba-reun is a friend who lost a loved one due to an unfortunate accident and lived with the weight of that pain. He lived for a long time as a character called Zeus because he didn’t want to be forgotten. Even if I can’t fully understand it, I won’t forget it either.” He added, “I hope the cold winter ends soon and the warm spring comes.”
Park Sang-nam of “My Merry Marriage” said: “This is an award that can only be received once in a lifetime. I am grateful to the seniors and teachers who created a good atmosphere that allowed me to perform without feeling intimidated. I would like to dedicate this honor to the “My Merry Marriage” team. He continued, “I will strive to be a humble and grateful actor.”
