Taeyeon and Wendy break their silence on their absence from upcoming concerts

SM Entertainment will hold its 30th anniversary concert SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul on January 11th and 12th. Ahead of the much-anticipated event, the label announced its star-studded lineup, sparking excitement from fans.

Unfortunately, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Red Velvet’s Wendy decided not to participate in the upcoming shows, leaving SONEs (SNSD fandom) and ReVeluvs (Red Velvet fans) shocked and disappointed.

Recently, both singers took to fandom communication platform Dear U Bubble to apologize for disappointing those who were waiting for them. But in their latest statements, Taeyeon and Wendy strongly implied that their absence was the label’s fault.

“It was a situation where I really wanted to perform well and was motivated to do two or three songs, so I told the company (SM) to prepare. I was waiting, but to sum up, they were unable to make preparations, due to of that, I ended up not being able to do it at all,” explained Taeyeon, leader and lead vocalist of “Nation’s Girl Group” SNSD.

“I never do something because I don’t have any motivation or I don’t want to do it. It’s not that, but I just want to put on a show on stage with all my heart and sincerity. All I want is to do my best. But since (SM) didn’t help me properly, I’m seriously thinking about it: what the hell is going on, I’ll tell the SONEs in case people think that (the problem) is me. I’m a little worried that there are some misunderstandings.”

The “Fine” hitmaker continued to criticize the label and subtly revealed that SM’s reason was that they forgot about it.

Meanwhile, Red Velvet’s lead singer Wendy, who revealed a week earlier that she would not be attending the event, also explained her position.

“Good morning. You’ve probably already seen the ad or maybe you haven’t seen it yet, but the discussion with the company happened a month ago, yet the notice was only published today,” he began, blaming the company for short notice.

“I apologize because there must have been many ReVeluv waiting for the five-member Red Velvet stage. But since it is our 30th anniversary, there will be several stages prepared. I hope you have fun. Thank you and goodbye. Sorry.”
