According to Star News on January 2, Kang Han-na has been confirmed to join the cast of tvN’s new drama “The Tyrant’s Chef.”
“The Tyrant’s Chef” gained notoriety even before production due to the male lead Park Sung-hoon being embroiled in controversy. This stems from the actor’s involvement in uploading explicit Japanese AV content (adult videos). On December 30 last year, Park Sung-hoon posted an explicit poster featuring Japanese AV actors dressed in costumes parodying Netflix’s “Squid Game 2” while depicting sexual acts in his personal SNS story.
The photo explicitly showed the actors’ breasts, genitals and sexually suggestive poses. Although the post was deleted within about a minute, Park Sung-hoon’s SNS followers had already widely circulated the image.
Park Sung-hoon’s agency BH Entertainment initially provided a misleading explanation, further escalating the controversy. BH claimed that the upload was accidental, stating that Park Sung-hoon was checking his DMs (direct messages) when he inadvertently shared the image. However, the next day, they admitted this was false, revising their statement: “Park Sung-hoon received that thing (Japanese AV poster) via DM. Recognizing the issue, he downloaded the image to forward it to company staff. Although he intended to delete it after sharing, he accidentally uploaded it instead.” The agency’s inconsistent statements fueled fans’ anger.
“The Tyrant’s Chef” tells the story of a chef who goes back in time to the moment he reaches the top and meets the king, considered the worst tyrant but also the greatest gourmet. The drama stars Girls’ Generation’s Park Sung-hoon and YoonA, with director Jang Tae-yoo (Tree With Deep Roots, My Love from the Star, Knight Flower) at the helm.
Meanwhile, Kang Han-na recently appeared in the film “About Family,” which premiered last December.
