On December 20, the Grammy Awards released its The 10 most electrifying songs of 2024. Surprisingly, the music industry’s highest honor selected not only the album’s title tracks, but also the b-sides released this year.

Listed in order of release date, the Top 10 mentions some of TikTok’s trending songs, such as “Supernova” by aespa, which also took the top spot on major South Korean music charts such as MelOn Top 100. There is also “of KISS OF LIFE”. Igloo”, a b-side from their third mini-album, Get lost, which gained attention for its enticing trap beats.

“It’s the kind of song that requires a specific ‘cool girl’ attitude to work,” the Grammys noted.

In addition to the above, other songs by girl groups were listed, such as “Crazy” by LE SSERAFIM and “Shooting Star” by Kep1er.

Le Rescene, a girl group that debuted in 2024 and is considered “nugu” (an underrated or lesser-known group), surprisingly also made it into the Grammys’ top pick, after the song “Love Attack.”

“This is the kpopiest [sic] song that hasn’t been released in a while and I just wish they got more recognition for this,” one netizen wrote as pointed out by the Grammys.

Additionally, some of the fifth generation boy groups’ biggest songs have also been added to the list, such as “Impossible” by RIIZE and “Good So Bad” by ZEROBASEONE. Both songs invoke nostalgia and timeless classical sounds that showcase the feeling of hope and enthusiasm.

Along with the above mentioned, BOYNEXTDOOR’s “Dangerous” was also chosen, which is a song that describes the idea of danger and rebellion and features the members’ charisma.

Two of the music scene’s biggest solo songs also reigned supreme on the list, including SHINee Taemin’s b-side, “Crush,” a release that encapsulated Taemin’s power, the Grammys explained.

Finally, EXO Baekhyun’s single “Pineapple Slice” earned a place in the top 10. The song containing the unique voice of the icon singing R&B melodies was one of the factors why the track entered the list and added the awards.
