IU reveals she suffers from Skeeter’s syndrome: “My skin becomes swollen and infected”

A video was released on YouTube channel Yoo In Radio on December 19, featuring IU as a guest.

During the episode, IU explained, “When I get bitten by mosquitoes, it causes a reaction. I get a lump, like the old man with the pimple.

He continued, “It gets so bad that I have to take antibiotics because it gets infected and becomes painful. It’s like an allergy to mosquitoes.”

When DJ Yoo In-na mentioned that a quick search revealed it’s called Skeeter Syndrome, IU confirmed it, saying: “Right. The area where I get bitten swells severely like edema and blisters.”

IU also shared, “Mosquitoes always bite my face and leave scars. The areas where I was bitten as a child still have dead skin and some places are numb to the touch.” This confession aroused the sympathy of the listeners.

He added, “I hate mosquitoes even more than cockroaches for this reason.”

Meanwhile, IU will appear in the upcoming Netflix series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” in 2025 and will also star in MBC’s new drama “21st Century Grand Lady.”
