Those who follow IU know that the singer has the Midas touch: everything she works on, whether it’s music, talk show appearances or television series, turns to gold.
In an interview with Advertising billboardthe singer, who recently embarked on a sold-out world tour, opened up about her upcoming 2025 drama, When life gives you tangerines.
“It’s a hard-working project from the cast and crew, and I’m excited to promote it,” he said.
The drama, which stars Park Bo-gum as a co-star and love interest, is set on the Korean island of Jeju in the 1950s and will follow the quirky Ae-soon (played by IU), nicknamed the “rebel extraordinaire.”
The idol, known for his insatiable work ethic, teased that’s not all he has up his sleeve this year.
“I will also shoot a new drama with a completely different atmosphere: charming and fun,” he said.
“Although I will be focusing on acting for much of 2025, I have already started working on new music, so fans won’t have to wait too long for anything new.”
IU’s long list of accomplishments (including numerous acting awards under her belt) have earned her the apt nickname “Korean’s Little Sister” since her musical debut at age 15 and now Advertising billboard has carved yet another trophy in stone by proclaiming her Korea’s No. 1 artist.
The magazine named her Korea’s representative in the Global No. 1 initiative and cover issues, which relegate stars as spokespersons for their home country, including Dua Lipa for the UK, Creepy Nuts for Japan, Kun for China and Geolier for Italy.
In IU’s seemingly endless list of accolades, her single “Love Wins All” set her apart from her peers, when the song led Korea’s Melon’s weekly TOP100 chart for four consecutive weeks after its release on January 24, and then proceeded to top the monthly chart in February and later achieved 339 perfect kills (a monstrous feat when a song simultaneously tops the real-time, daily, and weekly components) on iChart.
“It’s a little humbling, a little surreal, and honestly, it feels really special,” he said, offering thanks Advertising billboard for the prize.
When life gives you tangerines will premiere on Netflix in 2024.
