On December 18, Hyun Bin appeared on tvN’s program “You Quiz on the Block”. As for his feelings about being on a talk show after 13 years, the actor said, “I’m not used to telling stories about myself so I’m a little nervous right now.”
Hyun Bin recalled how he developed the dream of becoming an actor, saying “At the time I was a normal high school student, a brother I was very close to asked me to enroll in a theater course and I accepted. After I performed the performance, the audience applauded and it struck me in a very different way. I felt like I had just achieved something.”
He continued, “My parents were against it, especially my father. He said he would let me pursue acting if I was accepted into the Department of Theater and Film at Chung Ang University, and I did. Since then he has given me his full support.”
Regarding “My Lovely Sam Soon,” the drama that made Hyun Bin’s name known to the public, he said, “It also gave me the opportunity to meet many great actors and theater staff.” However, he also confessed the regret of not being able to enjoy the moment of being loved by the entire nation at the age of 24 and appreciate it a little more.
He then mentioned his syndrome-level popularity after “Secret Garden.” Hyun Bin said, “I enlisted right around that time. When I received so much love from viewers, I was always on the filming set. After completing all the filming I enlisted in the Marine Corps,” adding “I completed my military service and came back. Seeing my colleagues’ projects, I couldn’t wait to start acting again. Once again, I realized that I loved acting so much.”
Regarding “Crash Landing on You”, the drama he completed shortly before marrying Son Ye-jin, the actor confessed: “Drama has given me so many things. He helped me meet my wife,” adding “We already shot the film ‘The Negotiation’ together but we didn’t have many scenes together. Therefore, I wished that one day we could make a romantic comedy and that became a reality with ‘Crash Landing on You’.”
When asked how his love with Son Ye-jin developed, he said: “We were friends, but we became lovers after the drama ended. It happened naturally as we talked a lot while working on the drama and after the drama ended. After the drama, we continued to have private meetings and shoot some CF together.” Regarding working in the same field as his wife, the actor said: “It has both advantages and disadvantages.”
Finally, Hyun Bin sent a loving video message to his wife and son, saying “From the time you gave birth to our son until now, you have done so many great things and I truly respect you for that.
