While protests are ongoing in South Korea, many citizens have shown their support by pre-paying for coffee and meals for the protesters. IU and NewJeans took a leaf out of their books and paid for hundreds of meals in advance.
NewJeans announced its plan through its new Instagram account. Protesters can pick up the free items using the code “Bunnies.” They offered 110 servings of kimbap and 100 drinks at Oto Kimbap, 50 cereal lattes, 50 Americanos and 50 lemonades at Cuff Cafe, a hundred bowls of samgyetang, and a hundred dumplings and beef soups.
As for IU, she offered 100 portions of rice cakes and 100 drinks at Wonjo Gongju Rice Cakes and 200 bowls of gukbap, one hundred portions of bread and one hundred drinks at Rolling Pin, as well as 100 various pastries at Bread Factory Sudan Red Bean Pane .
Protesters can collect them using the name “UAENA”. EDAM Entertainment pointed out that people outside the fanclub could also pick them up.
