On December 10, a representative from Lee Jong-suk’s agency confirmed to media outlet OSEN: “’The Empress Remarried’ is one of the projects that was offered to Lee Jong-suk. However, his participation has not yet been decided.”
The drama is based on a successful web novel of the same name, which tells the story of Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire, who divorces her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, after trying to make her his mistress Rashta the new empress. Navier then remarried King Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, setting the stage for a gripping story of love, betrayal, and politics.
The original novel is considered a cornerstone of the fantasy-romance genre in South Korea and has gained enormous popularity. It has since been adapted into an ongoing webtoon, further solidifying its cultural impact.
Actress Shin Min-ah has reportedly been cast as Navier, the titular Empress, which has increased anticipation for the drama’s cast and production.
Lee Jong-suk was offered the role of King Heinrey, the male protagonist and Navier’s second husband. The show will be directed by Jo Soo-won, who has previously collaborated with Lee Jong-suk on hit dramas such as “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Pinocchio.”
Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk is also preparing for his upcoming weekend drama for tvN “Seochodong” (working title). Fans are eager to see if she will take on this romance-fantasy project, marking another significant milestone in her career.
