On the morning of December 7, the production team of “The Trunk” released never-before-seen footage featuring lead actors Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, attracting attention.
“The Trunk,” which premiered Nov. 29, is a mystery melodrama about a secret marriage service revealed through a trunk that appears by the lake and the strange story of the marriage of a man and a woman involved in it. The series explores the concept of “contractual marriage” in a unique and fresh way, telling the story of individuals who, each with their own scars and loneliness, love and save each other.
Above all, the actors’ presence shone as they delicately portrayed the complex, multi-layered interior lives of characters trapped in the confines of “marriage.” Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, along with Jung Yun-ha, Jo Yi-geon and Kim Dong-won, captivated viewers with their rousing performances, alternating mystery and melodrama. In particular, Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, as Noh In-ji, who isolates himself due to marriage, and Han Jeong-won, a man who becomes terribly lonely after marriage, once again showcased the emotional depth and their true acting ability.
Meanwhile, the newly released still cuts remind viewers of the tender excitement and lingering aftertaste. The photos show Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo deeply immersed in their scripts in various parts of the filming set.
The acting of the two actors, filling the gaps and spaces between the lines of the script, exceeded expectations. They intensely depicted the changing relationship between Noh In-ji, whose job was marriage, and Han Jeong-won, who did not believe in marriage, as well as the complex and subtle emotional lines. The behind-the-scenes footage of director Kim Kyu-tae and the actors, who were constantly in dialogue to perfect each scene and cut, also caught the eye.
Jung Yun-ha, who played Lee Seo-yeon, the woman with a distorted love and obsession towards her ex-husband Han Jeong-won, was a new discovery in “The Trunk.” Additionally, newcomer Jo Yi-geon, who brought romance and twists to the plot as Yoon Ji-oh, and Kim Dong-won, who brought mystery and tension as Eom Tae-seong, they made a significant contribution to the success of the show.
