The perjury charge involved the infamous HYBE Weekly Music Industry Report, which created quite a controversy after being made public a few weeks ago. The petitioner claimed that Kim Joo Young was a CHRO (chief human resources officer) of HYBE at the time the report was circulated among the company’s C-level executives. Despite this, he did not mention it during his testimony in which he said he works to prevent human rights violations and uphold a respectful code of behavior. The petitioner argued that this contradiction constituted perjury.

The petition was accepted by the parliamentary committee, pending further action.

Meanwhile, another petition for the revocation of HYBE’s “Top Enterprise” is being considered by the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee. You can read more about it here.
