On November 4, legal sources confirmed that Yulhee filed a request with the Seoul Family Court to modify the custody agreement and request alimony and property division. This decision follows the absence of an in-depth discussion of these matters during the 2023 divorce.
Previously, Yulhee revealed details of their split on her YouTube channel, saying that the conflicts began after she discovered Minhwan’s visits to adult facilities. Despite a year of efforts to reconcile, Minhwan eventually initiated the divorce. Yulhee also shocked viewers by revealing that, before learning of her activities, Minhwan engaged in inappropriate behavior in front of her parents, such as grabbing her chest and other private areas.
Yulhee initially didn’t share the reasons for their divorce, but was pressured to do so after a YouTuber falsely claimed that her supposed “leaking” had led to the split. This led her to set the record straight to avoid further misunderstandings.
At the time of the divorce, custody was temporarily awarded to Minhwan, with the understanding that Yulhee would assume custody once she could provide a suitable environment for the children. Yulhee said that, at the time, Minhwan had proposed KRW 5 million (about $3,700) along with KRW 200,000 ($150) in monthly child support, which he considered insufficient to provide housing for his family.
After the divorce, Yulhee learned that she could pursue custody, alimony and property division through legal channels and decided to take action to reunite with her children.
A recently released voice recording from Yulhee raised suspicion of Minhwan’s involvement in prostitution, leading to a police investigation. Minhwan is now under investigation for violating the Sexual Assault Punishment Act and the Prostitution Act. He has since stepped down from all television appearances, including “The Return of Superman,” and suspended his activities with FT Island.
Minhwan and Yulhee began dating publicly in 2017, announced her pregnancy and marriage registration in 2018, and welcomed their first child, Jaeyul, in May of that year. They had twin daughters in February 2020, but the couple ultimately divorced in December 2023.
