During a call with DJ Son Tae-jin on MBC’s Standard FM “Son Tae-jin’s Trot Radio” on October 23, singer Yoon Soo-il discussed the buzz surrounding Rosé’s new track “APT.” with Bruno Marte.
Son Tae-jin mentioned it as “APT”. gains traction, Yoon Soo-il’s original “Apartment” was also rediscovered and asked Yoon Soo-il what his feelings were about this rebirth. Yoon Soo-il replied, “I have often seen it online and heard about it from various people. I listened to both songs and was impressed by Rosé and Bruno Mars’ ideas.” He praised the creativity of his younger artists.
He added, “It’s great to have this apartment theme used globally,” expressing pride in his younger singers.
Yoon Soo-il noted, “There is a gap of about 40 years between the eras. The atmosphere of 40 years ago is very different from today and musical trends have changed significantly.” He mentioned, “Rosé’s song is catchy, has a great hook and is addictive, but I also have to brag that my song ‘Apartment’ has been number one in karaoke for ten years straight.”
He further explained, “I tried to keep the melody of ‘Apartment’ simple. Even though it’s a solitary song, it was sung in unison and cheered, which isn’t exactly what I meant, but I think it’s a strong point of my song.
“Apartment” has been a beloved national song since the 1980s, often sung at college baseball games and cheer events, maintaining its popularity across generations.
