On the November 13 episode of tvN’s variety show “You Quiz on the Block” (episode 269), members of the “Dreaming Harmony” choir and teachers from Bakdal Elementary School in Anyang appeared as guests.
“Dreaming Harmony” gained attention after a video of them singing a reworked version of “Sunset” for a friend who was transferring schools went viral in the news. Yoo Jae-suk asked: “When the away friend cried so much, what did you say to him?” to which the choir leader, student Kim Ye-jin, responded, “I told them to always live with confidence. My mom always says that.” He added, “Living with confidence means doing your own thing, no matter what others say” which made me laugh.
Sixth-grader Lee Eun-seo, who is the leader of the soprano section, shared that she once thought about not moving because of her love for the choir. He explained, “Competing in pageants is a unique experience, and other places don’t have a choir. When we sing together, my confidence increases and I can perform better. I wanted to stay with my friends, so I decided not to move.”
Yoo Jae-suk then asked: “So you didn’t move? Are your parents still there?” Eun-seo revealed, “Now I live with my grandmother” surprising everyone. He added, “I didn’t want to leave because of the choir.” When asked about her parents’ reaction, she said: “At first they suggested I go with them, but in the end they left without me.”
Eun-seo’s parents are both in the military. He confessed “Honestly, sometimes I feel lonely, but it’s fun,” demonstrating his affection for the choir, which warmed everyone’s hearts.
Afterwards, “Dreaming Harmony” performed “Blue Whale” with their pure voices, and both the production team and Yoo Jae-suk were seen wiping away tears. After hearing “Everything will be fine”, Yoo Jae-suk said, “It’s so touching. The production team is also emotional. We probably all feel the same way. Listening to the songs of the choir members was so comforting.”
He continued, “After watching the video, I have tears in my eyes again. There is no heartwarming news these days. It’s bitter and you often wonder why things are the way they are. But listening to their pure voices brought me a deep emotion and left a lasting impression.”
